Floyd County couple arrested by KSP on drug trafficking charges

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WMDJ) — Two people are facing felony drug charges following a Kentucky State Police investigation in Floyd County.

John Mark McKenzie, 54, of Rogersville, Tennessee, and Angel J. Miller, 42, of Prestonsburg, were each charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, two grams or more) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Troopers executed a search warrant at a residence in East Point where investigators said McKenzie had been staying. McKenzie was not at the home when the warrant was served, but investigators reported finding suspected methamphetamine and drug-related items during the search.

The investigation later led troopers to a residence on New Hope Circle near the Cliffside Apartments area, where investigators believed McKenzie was staying with Miller. Troopers stopped a vehicle occupied by the pair after they arrived at the residence.

Investigators later searched the bedroom where the two had been staying and reported finding suspected methamphetamine along with scales and plastic baggies. Arrest citations state neither McKenzie nor Miller claimed ownership of the suspected drugs.

Both were arrested and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center. The charges are allegations, and the case remains pending in Floyd District Court.
