SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Salyersville woman is facing multiple felony charges after Kentucky State Police say a domestic disturbance Sunday escalated into an assault and gunfire.
According to an arrest citation, troopers responded to a home on Combs Branch Road after receiving reports of a domestic disturbance involving Macey Jo May, 25.
Investigators say the dispute began during an argument involving a child. During the incident, May allegedly assaulted her mother and another woman before threatening others who attempted to intervene.
Police allege May then pulled a handgun from her purse and fired two rounds. One of the shots reportedly came close to striking one of the victims.
Troopers recovered a handgun and a spent shell casing during the investigation. Police also said May later told investigators she could not remember what had happened after being advised of her rights.
May is charged with attempted murder, five counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, fourth-degree assault and third-degree terroristic threatening. She is being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
