PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Johnson County man is facing a felony charge after authorities say a bomb threat forced the evacuation of the Johnson County Judicial Center Friday morning.
Kentucky State Police say the threat was reported shortly before 9 a.m., prompting law enforcement and emergency responders to clear and search the building. No explosives were found.
Investigators determined the threatening phone call came from a number belonging to 43-year-old Dusty Hamilton of Paintsville.
According to the arrest citation, Hamilton told troopers he had loaned his phone to an unknown woman at a nearby gas station, claiming she made the call before returning it. Troopers also reported seeing Hamilton outside the judicial center after it had been evacuated.
Hamilton was arrested and charged with first-degree terroristic threatening. He was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
The investigation remains ongoing.
