FRANKFORT, Ky. (WMDJ) — Gov. Andy Beshear announced Thursday that serious crime across Kentucky declined for the second consecutive year in 2025, with the state's annual Crime in Kentucky report showing an 8.14% decrease in reported Group A offenses compared to 2024.
The report also breaks down offenses reported by individual law enforcement agencies.
In Floyd County, the Kentucky State Police reported the most Group A offenses with 234. The Floyd County Sheriff's Office reported 203 offenses, followed by the Prestonsburg Police Department with 176 and the Martin Police Department with four.
Group A offenses include 23 categories of crimes reported by law enforcement agencies, including assault, burglary, drug offenses, theft, robbery, homicide, fraud, vandalism and weapon law violations.
Drug and narcotic offenses were the largest category reported by all four Floyd County agencies. Kentucky State Police reported 140 drug offenses, while the Sheriff's Office reported 86, Prestonsburg Police reported 74 and Martin Police reported one.
