PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — A West Liberty man died Friday evening in a workplace incident in Johnson County involving a telescopic lift and nearby power lines.

According to the Johnson County Coroner’s Office, 48-year-old Jonathon Brown, an employee of Foothills Communications, was pressure washing from a lift near live power lines along Ky. Route 40 in Paintsville when the incident happened around 6:40 p.m.

Officials are working to determine exactly what happened, including whether the lift made contact with the power lines or if Brown fell during the incident.

Ky. Route 40 was temporarily closed while emergency crews responded.

Brown’s body was sent to Frankfort for an autopsy. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
