BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (WMDJ) — Today, Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman announces a Breathitt County man has pleaded guilty in connection with a shooting last year.
According to a news release by Coleman, 42-year-old Jonathan Keeton entered guilty pleas to first-degree wanton endangerment, discharge of a firearm, theft by unlawful taking of a firearm, and first-degree criminal mischief. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
Court records cited in the release show the charges stem from an incident on June 5, 2025. Investigators say Keeton took a pistol from another man during a verbal argument and fired two shots into a vehicle while a woman was nearby.
In a statement, Coleman said reckless actions that put others in danger will lead to serious consequences and credited law enforcement and prosecutors for the outcome.
The Kentucky State Police investigated the case. Assistant Attorney General Tony Skeans handled prosecution for the Commonwealth.
