PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WMDJ) — A judge has denied a request to delay an upcoming jury trial in a high-profile Floyd County murder case.
According to an order filed Thursday in Pike Circuit Court, the trial involving MK McKinney, Dr. Michael K. McKinney and Josh Mullins will move forward as scheduled on May 11.
Prosecutors had asked for a continuance, citing pending DNA testing that would not be completed in time for the trial. The order states that Michael McKinney and Mullins supported the request, while MK McKinney opposed any delay.
After reviewing arguments from both sides and considering the position of the victim’s family, the judge denied the motion, keeping the trial date in place.
The judge also denied separate requests from Michael McKinney and Mullins to be released from home incarceration.
