A new report from Nielsen, often referred to as the broadcasting industry’s standard for audience measurement, outlines the listening and viewing habits of the American public.
According to the report, country music is the most-listened-to format in the United States, with 93% of adults ages 18 to 34 and 95% of adults over the age of 35 tuning in.
The report also details how Americans access media. Radio reaches 95% of the population, followed by smartphones at 89%. Television and television-connected devices each reach 85%, while personal computers reach 76% and tablets reach 49%.
The report notes that the largest share of radio listening still takes place in vehicles.
It also identifies radio as the most trusted source of media.
