Kentucky voter registration deadline approaching for primary election

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WMDJ) — Kentucky’s deadline to register for the 2026 primary election is approaching.

According to the Kentucky State Board of Elections, the last day to register to vote in the May 19 primary is Monday, April 20, by 4 p.m. local time. The general election is scheduled for November 3, with the voter registration deadline set for October 5. You can check your registration status at this link here

State officials say voters can use the Kentucky Voter Information Center to check their registration status, review election information and track absentee ballot requests. The state’s election page also notes that the mail-in absentee ballot request portal for the primary opened April 4 and closes May 5 at 11:59 p.m. local time.

Kentucky has closed primary elections, meaning voters must be registered with a political party to vote in that party’s primary.
