Perry County man killed in two-vehicle crash

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WMDJ) — Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash in Perry County that claimed the life of an 82-year-old man.

Police said the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 13, on Old Beech Fork Road in the Slemp community. Troopers from Post 13 in Hazard were asked by the Perry County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the investigation and reconstruction.

According to the preliminary investigation, a black Ford F-250 was traveling on Old Beech Fork Road when the driver failed to negotiate a steep curve. The truck then crossed the center line and collided with a white Ford Explorer driven by Bobbie Boggs, 82, of Big Laurel.

Boggs was pronounced dead at the scene by the Perry County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the Ford F-250 and two passengers were taken to Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.

State police said Boggs was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort. Autopsy and toxicology results are pending. Investigators said seat belts were being used at the time of the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
