BANNER, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Floyd County man is facing a felony charge after police say he assaulted his mother.
According to an arrest citation, deputies with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police responded to a home in the Banner area just after 2 a.m. Sunday following an open-line 911 call. Dispatchers reportedly heard a man making threats to kill his mother and himself.
When first responders arrived, they found the victim with serious injuries, including what appeared to be a fractured jaw and eye socket, along with a loose tooth and multiple knots on her head and body.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Justin Ryan Lewis of Daniels Creek, had left the scene but was later located by deputies.
Police said Lewis showed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and the odor of alcohol. His blood alcohol level at the time of the incident was reportedly .147.
Lewis denied assaulting his mother.
He is charged with second-degree assault, terroristic threatening and DUI, and is being held on a $15,000 cash bond.
