PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Prestonsburg woman has been arrested after her three-year-old child was found along U.S. 23.
According to an arrest citation, Prestonsburg 911 received a call April 2 from a driver who reported finding the child on the shoulder of U.S. 23 near the Bull Creek Trade Center.
Prestonsburg Police responded to the scene and located the child with the caller.
A family member later arrived and told officers the child’s mother, Sasha Lynn Farmer, 33, had called them after realizing the child was missing.
The citation states Farmer told police she had gone inside her home briefly, and when she came back outside, the child was gone. She reported searching for the child, including walking toward U.S. 23, but was unable to locate them before returning home.
Social services were contacted and responded to the scene.
Farmer was arrested and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center on a charge of endangering the welfare of a minor.
