PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Johnson County man is facing multiple charges after a domestic disturbance call in Floyd County led to a foot chase.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called Wednesday night to a home in the Spurlock community. When they arrived, they reported seeing 34-year-old Shawn Spurlock, of Staffordsville, run behind the home and up a nearby hill.
Deputies say a foot chase followed through brush and over a hillside before returning back toward the home. During the pursuit, a deputy reported seeing Spurlock drop two bags believed to contain between one and two ounces of methamphetamine.
Spurlock was taken into custody inside the home. Deputies noted he had fresh scratches consistent with running through brush. According to the report, Spurlock denied being the person deputies were chasing and denied dropping the suspected drugs.
He is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, fleeing or evading police, tampering with physical evidence, and resisting arrest.
