Louisville man charged for allegedly assaulting responders after Stanville crash

STANVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Louisville man is facing multiple charges after police say he assaulted first responders and troopers at the scene of a crash in Stanville.

According to an arrest citation, Kentucky State Police responded to a crash with injuries around 9:58 p.m. on March 21 along U.S. 23 in the Betsy Layne near the Cardinal Mart in Stanville.

When troopers arrived, firefighters and EMS were already on scene. First responders told police a woman involved in the crash had been seriously injured and ran to a nearby apartment.

According to the citation, Donald Clark, who was in the vehicle with the woman, was standing at the top of a staircase and refused to allow responders to reach her.

Troopers said Clark also refused to comply when they attempted to investigate and approached officers in an aggressive manner.

Police say Clark resisted arrest, kicked a firefighter and headbutted a state trooper. No injuries were reported during the altercation.

Clark was taken into custody and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.

He is charged with two counts of third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, menacing, obstructing governmental operations and resisting arrest.
