PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville has a new commander.
KSP announced Tuesday that Capt. Brad Riley has been assigned as post commander. He officially transferred to Post 9 on March 16.
Riley joined Kentucky State Police in 2009 after graduating from the training academy as a member of Cadet Class 87. He first served at Post 4 in Elizabethtown, then held assignments in executive security, Bowling Green and the agency’s special enforcement and investigations division.
He later returned to Post 4 as operations lieutenant. Riley was promoted to captain in 2025 and most recently served in the inspections and evaluations branch and the critical incident response branch.
According to KSP, Riley has received multiple awards during his career, including post-level trooper of the year honors and DUI enforcement recognition. He also served on the agency’s honor guard and is a certified collision reconstructionist.
Riley is a native of Grayson County and brings more than 16 years of law enforcement experience to the Pikeville post.
