Pike County man sentenced for threatening public official

ASHLAND, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Pike County man has been sentenced to more than four years in federal prison after making threats against a local official on social media.

Ronald Ferguson Jr., 48, of Elkhorn City, was sentenced to 50 months in prison after pleading guilty to interstate threats in December.

According to court records, Ferguson admitted to posting Facebook videos in which he threatened to harm Pike County Judge-Executive Ray Jones, including statements about hunting him down and shooting him.

The charge carried a maximum sentence of five years. The judge ordered Ferguson to serve just under that limit.

Ferguson is currently being held in the Boyd County Detention Center.
