According to an arrest citation, deputies were patrolling Ky. 30 about three miles from Salyersville when they spotted a moped with no working rear lights and a dim headlight.
The citation said the moped had two people on it, including 35-year-old Timothy Chambers of Zoe. Deputies said Chambers then turned abruptly into a driveway.
According to police, the passenger got off the moped and ran toward the Licking River.
After deputies stopped the moped, Chambers allegedly resisted arrest. Police said they also found a meth pipe in his possession that he tried to throw away.
The passenger was also arrested, but was not identified in the citation.
Chambers was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, menacing, criminal littering and no operator’s license for a moped.
He was taken to and lodged at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
