PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Pike County man was arrested Friday after Kentucky State Police said he threatened his wife and forced his way into a home in the Jamboree community.
According to an arrest citation, troopers were called to Mingo Street around 5 p.m. on March 13 after a woman reported her husband was outside with a gun. Police said Ronald Wayne Coots, 72, of Pike County, was accused of threatening to kill his wife and others during the incident.
Troopers reported finding Coots on a porch holding a firearm. After repeated commands, police said he eventually put the gun down.
The citation states investigators were told Coots broke a window to get inside the home and left blood throughout the house. A bloody handprint was also reportedly found on a bathroom door where his wife had gone.
State police said video from a Ring doorbell showed Coots outside with a shotgun and pointing it at the door.
He is charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, third-degree terroristic threatening, menacing, and prescription controlled substance not in a proper container.
Coots was taken to Pikeville Medical Center for treatment of an arm injury before being cleared for incarceration and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
