Prestonsburg Police Arrest Three Perry County Teens After Traffic Stop

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) — Three Perry County teens were arrested after Prestonsburg Police stopped a speeding vehicle and reported the driver was intoxicated and in possession of a fake ID.

According to a citation, an officer was parked at the Middle Creek National Battlefield on KY-114 on March 14 when a 2016 Ford F-150 was observed traveling at a high rate of speed and unable to stay within its lane.

Police said the vehicle was later located near the Mountain Arts Center, traveling 101 miles per hour in a 45 mile-per-hour zone.

The truck then pulled behind a nearby business and the driver turned off the headlights, according to the citation.

Police identified the driver as James Landon Sullivan, 19, of Hazard. Authorities said Sullivan admitted he had been drinking and showed signs of intoxication during field sobriety testing.

A preliminary breath test indicated Sullivan had a blood alcohol concentration of .166, more than twice the legal limit in Kentucky.

Police said three teens from Perry County were arrested following the stop.
