BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Kentucky airman has been identified among six U.S. service members killed in a military aircraft crash in Iraq.
The Department of War said Tech. Sgt. Ashley B. Pruitt, 34, of Bardstown, died March 12 when a KC-135 refueling tanker crashed in western Iraq while supporting Operation Epic Fury.
Pruitt was assigned to the 6th Air Refueling Wing at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida.
Officials also identified the other airmen killed in the crash as Maj. John A. Klinner, 33, of Auburn, Alabama; Capt. Ariana G. Savino, 31, of Covington, Washington; Capt. Seth R. Koval, 38, of Mooresville, Indiana; Capt. Curtis J. Angst, 30, of Wilmington, Ohio; and Tech. Sgt. Tyler H. Simmons, 28, of Columbus, Ohio.
According to military officials, Pruitt joined the Air Force in 2017 and deployed four times during her career.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
