LEBURN, Ky. (WMDJ) — Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Monday night in Knott County.
Troopers with KSP Post 13 in Hazard say they received a 911 call around 8:02 p.m. reporting a single-vehicle crash on KY-80 in the Leburn community.
When crews arrived, they found a black Toyota Camry that had gone over an embankment off the westbound shoulder of the road.
Police say the driver, 68-year-old Keith Dingus of Langley, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The Knott County Coroner pronounced him dead.
Two juvenile passengers were found inside the vehicle. Both were taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
Investigators say Dingus may have suffered a medical emergency before the crash. His body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy, and toxicology results are pending.
The crash remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
