PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — Five people were taken into custody Sunday morning after Pikeville Police carried out two search warrants at separate homes, uncovering several types of drugs and other evidence.
Officers first served a warrant around 6 a.m. at a residence on Island Creek Road. During the search, police reported finding methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, along with a firearm and a large amount of cash.
Authorities also discovered a minor living at the home, and social workers were contacted.
Three people were arrested at that location: 54-year-old Cathy McKinney Ratliff, 37-year-old Whitney Lowe and 21-year-old Aaryn Muncy. All three are charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a minor. Lowe and Muncy also face marijuana possession charges.
About 20 minutes later, officers executed a second warrant at a home on Zebulon Highway.
Police say methamphetamine, marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms were recovered during that search. Wayne Buzard, 57, and Leslie Compton, 42, were arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine and marijuana, along with drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Investigators say several firearms were also found in the residence. Buzard was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
All five suspects are currently lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
