Free Legal Aid Clinics Planned in Hazard, Pikeville

(WMDJ) — Residents in Eastern Kentucky will have a chance to get free legal help with estate planning and property title issues through upcoming clinics hosted by AppalReD Legal Aid.

Staff will help attendees prepare estate planning documents such as last wills and testaments, powers of attorney, living wills and funeral planning declarations.

Attorneys will also provide assistance with title clearing, which helps residents resolve questions about homeownership. The service can be especially important for disaster survivors who need proof of home ownership to qualify for FEMA assistance.

One clinic is scheduled for March 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Passport Vital Minor Healthcare Office in Hazard.

Another clinic will be held April 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pike County Public Library in Pikeville.

Organizers say additional clinics are planned. Those unable to attend can call to schedule a one-on-one meeting.

Residents are encouraged to pre-register by calling the disaster intake hotline at 1-844-478-0099. All services are free for eligible applicants.
