Man Arrested After Deadly Shooting In Perry County

HAZARD, Ky. (WMDJ) — A man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in Perry County has been arrested after a nearly 24-hour search.

Kentucky State Police arrested 43-year-old Danny “Blue” Harold Asher Wednesday morning in Leslie County. Authorities say the arrest came after someone reported a suspicious person in the area.

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office says the case began shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Bubby Combs apartment complex on Darkfork Road near Hazard. Deputies responding to a fight at the complex found 27-year-old Ryan Hunt on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff Joe Engle said Asher and two women were reportedly involved in the altercation with Hunt before the shooting. Witness statements led investigators to obtain a murder warrant for Asher later that day.

Authorities say the two women left the scene after the shooting, and additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.

Asher is being transported back to Perry County, where he will face a murder charge.
