MINGO COUNTY, Wv. (WMDJ) — A woman who walked away from the Pike County Detention Center is back in custody.
Police say 36-year-old Whitney Hurley of Freeburn left the jail just before 6 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities reported she walked away from the facility and was later located in Rawl, West Virginia.
Officers arrested Hurley following a brief pursuit.
She is now facing charges in Mingo County, including fugitive from justice, fleeing with reckless indifference, and fleeing on foot.
Another woman was also taken into custody. Police arrested 18-year-old Lynna Ray-Jean Cantrell of Matewan and charged her with aiding and abetting in a jail escape.
Both women are currently being held at the Southwestern Regional Jail in Holden, West Virginia.
