PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Prestonsburg woman has died following a house fire Tuesday evening.

Emergency crews and the Floyd County Coroner's Office were called to a home on Right Fork of Home Branch in the Endicott community just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The victim was identified 86-year-old as Pearl Johnson.

The Allen Volunteer Fire Department said it responded to the fire as part of a mutual aid request from the Cowcreek Fire Department.

In a social media post, the department expressed condolences to Johnson’s family and thanked first responders for their work at the scene, noting cooperation among multiple agencies.

Also assisting were the Prestonsburg Fire Department, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, and Kentucky State Police.

No information has been released about the cause of the fire. The incident remains under investigation.
