Auxier man arrested after threats to kill postal worker, deputies

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WMDJ) - An Auxier man is behind bars after allegedly making violent threats against a U.S. Postal Service employee and Floyd County sheriff’s deputies.

Police say Jonathan J. Howell first threatened to kill a postal worker, then posted on social media that he would kill deputies. Prestonsburg Police obtained felony warrants at the request of the U.S. Postal Inspector, and with help from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, went to Howell’s home around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers say Howell resisted arrest before being taken into custody. He’s charged with two counts of terroristic threatening, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and menacing. Howell was lodged in the Floyd County Jail.

The case remains under investigation by Prestonsburg Police and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.
