PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) – Today is the third anniversary of the tragic Allen shooting that claimed the lives of four officers and to commemorate the anniversary, a dedication ceremony will be held this evening for a new tribute in downtown Prestonsburg.

A new painting depicting Officer Jacob Chaffins, Capt. Ralph Frasure, Deputy William Petry, and K-9 Officer Drago is on display on the side of a building next to the downtown stage. All four lost their lives in an onslaught of gunfire while attempting to serve an emergency protection order at a home in Allen.

A dedication ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. this evening, followed by family members and law enforcement laying wreaths for the fallen at Gethsemane Gardens Cemetery.
