NEW YORK – Good news for the Carl D. Perkins Job Corp in Prestonsburg.
A federal judge has granted a preliminary injunction to stop the U.S. Department of Labor from shutting down Job Corps nationwide.
The injunction helps strengthen a temporary restraining order issued by a U.S. District Judge earlier this month, which directed the Labor Department to cease removing Job Corps students from housing, terminating jobs or otherwise suspending the nationwide program without congressional approval.
The Labor Department announced in May it was pausing operations at Job Corp centers, due to poor results from participants, which officials claim is a high cost to taxpayers.
