PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) – A local music festival is moving to Prestonsburg.
The city of Prestonsburg has approved a contract to host AlleyFest in Archer Park on Labor Day weekend.
AlleyFest began in 2020 in downtown Paintsville in response to the Kentucky Apple Festival being cancelled due to COVID-19. This year, festival officials tentatively announced plans to host the event at the Combs Airport in Johnson County, yet the inability to sell alcohol outside Paintsville city limits has caused officials to seek a new site.
During this week’s city council meeting, Mayor Rick Hughes indicated the city accepted the festival’s offer.
The festival is scheduled to feature the band Old Crow Medicine Show, American Idol star John Foster, local singer/songwriter Nicholas Jamerson and other performers.
