FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WMDJ) – A woman is in custody after she allegedly shot and killed her father Monday night in Floyd County.

According to Prestonsburg City Police, 911 received a call of a shooting at a home on KY Route 321 in Prestonsburg. The caller, later identified as 22-year-old Summer Adkins of Prestonsburg, told dispatchers that she shot her father.

Authorities found Jim Harvey, 62, of Prestonsburg, sitting in a chair dead from multiple gunshot wounds. His body has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy.

Summer Adkins was arrested on scene and charged with one count of murder.

Prestonsburg City Police continue to investigate.
