LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) – Gov. Andy Beshear has announced a new education initiative, aimed to advance Kentucky’s public education system and job growth.
Beshear says the new initiative, “Pre-K for All,” will provide pre-Kindergarten outreach to every Kentucky child to ensure that they don't fall behind from day one of school.
According to statistics, more than half of Kentucky’s children – 53.8% – are unprepared when they show up for their first day of kindergarten. Also, nearly two-thirds of Kentucky counties don’t have access to enough childcare to serve every family who needs it, with the majority of those located in Eastern Kentucky.
