Former Floyd County Schools employee pleads guilty to sexual misconduct charges

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) – A former Floyd County Schools employee entered a guilty plea on amended charges of first-degree rape and sodomy of a former student, stemming from incidents that took place over two decades ago.

 

John Martin, was indicted by a grand jury in March and accused of sexually assaulting a former student between 1995 and 1997.

 

Martin accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to sexual misconduct, and was sentenced to 12-months probation and 24-months of no contact with the victim or any other minor.

 

Floyd County Schools released a statement saying Martin's employment was terminated Thursday.
