FRANKFORT, Ky. (WMDJ) – The KY Public Service Commission has rejected a proposed rate increase submitted by Southern Water and Sewer District.
The PSC says Southern Water filed outdated data of water usage in 2022, when the district should’ve filed the most recent data available from 2023 to validate an increase.
In a ruling filed on October 11th, Southern Water can file an amended application with correct historical data, reissue customer notices of proposed increases and show proof of those changes within 45 days to the PSC.
If approved, the proposed increase would raise the average residential bill from $60 to more than $75 a month.
