FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WMDJ) – The city of Prestonsburg has a new fire chief.
Longtime member Celina Thomas was appointed to the position this week after decades of service to the department. She becomes the first female fire chief of the department.
Thomas began as a volunteer in 2008 and later took on a full-time role with the department in 2003.
Mayor Rick Hughes says Thomas has the knowledge and experience, along with the support of the department to take on this position.
Thomas will take part in an official pinning ceremony for her new position Monday evening at the Mountain Arts Center at 6:30 p.m.
