EASTERN, Ky. (WMDJ) – Officials are investigating a social media threat that was made against Allen Elementary on Thursday.

Floyd County Schools alerted the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department and Prestonsburg City Police, prompting an investigation.

School officials released a statement late Thursday evening saying, “At this time, law enforcement is actively investigating the situation, and no verifiable threats have been confirmed.”

Officials also indicated that there were safety concerns, yet an increased law enforcement presence is at all schools in the county on Friday.
